I'm afraid that I couldn't find a store in the USA where these are available. The price at amazon.co.uk is 59 pounds, which is approximately 120 dollars. That's a lot, especially considering that I bought them for close to 65 dollars. Therefore, I based my value rating on that price (9).
The SHP8900 is the successor of the flawed SHP895. I compared both models and came up with several conclusions:
The SHP8900's sound is brighter, has better resolution, is deprived of the coloration that its predecessor had. It offers more clarity, which is especially easy to hear in the higher frequencies. SHP8900's bass is tighter and has considerably more impact. However, it still suffers from slight boominess, which gets worse when it's boosted substancially. These are excellent cans if you can withstand their brightness.
If the SHP895 is in the same league with the HD555 as some say, the SHP8900 might very well be almost as good as the HD595, who knows...
