This is my favorite headphone, despite the uneven ratings. Most people who listen for the first time will be surprised at the brightness. Don't be - the curve is printed right on the box. With a moderate treble reduction, the overall sound quality is amazingly good - much better than a Sennheiser Momentum, Beyer DT770LE, Shure 1840, etc. With ipods, the upper bass can be slightly boomy, which improves with amps, especially the mini-DACs like the Dragonfly. What really impresses me most is the lack of coloration, great detail, and just the right warmth for near-perfect hi-fi listening pleasure. Like the Shure 1840, the lower bass isn't as strong as the upper bass or midrange, but unlike the 1840, it has a good feel and impact with most music, even pipe organ music.
Edit: Reduced comfort to 8 - it's excellent, but still has enough weight to be noticed.
