The HP100 has the best and most unusual bass I've ever heard, rivaled by only the ATH M50. The treble is strong and highly detailed, but still only borderline irritating on the very worst tracks I have. The mids get a lot of their clarity from the detailed treble, and if anything, have a slight flavor of emphasis around 800-900 hz, giving it a lighter sound than the M50 or Senn Amperior, for example. The HP100 cannot be worn around the neck comfortably when not in use, so that disqualifies it as a portable for me. The single-sided cable is detachable but proprietary. Comfort is extraordinary since the earpads are large enough to not contact my outer ear parts. Leakage is low, but in a very quiet office playing music loudly, someone in the adjoining cubicle might hear a faint sound from the headphone.
