Considering the price of the MX550 earbuds, they are a very good option if portability is a must. They offer all-over improved sound quality over stock headphones of MP3 players. They are quite comfortable due to them being very light and they come with foam pads.
The sound quality of the MX550 earbuds is around average. They seriously lack bass impact but still offer quite well controlled and surprisingly extended bass for being non-canal earbuds. The midrange audio sounds clearly better than bass or highrange on the MX550s. The highs sound a bit washed out. The soundstage is something that you would not expect from cheap earbuds like these, since the clarity is actually quite nice.
I've had these for about 9 months now. Sometime around 8 months of owning these, the left bud didn't produce any sound - the wires had worn out from the solder points and broke. I fixed this by buying a solderable 3.5mm plug, cut the wires and soldered them into the plug. Now they work again.
Overall - great value for the money!
