The value for money I noted might seem out of proportion to the other properties, but I felt that the sound is so seamless and well balanced, and in spite of great highs so non-irritating on rock music and other potentially harsh tracks, that it's a very good value in spite of the much higher price than its predecessor the HD25-1-II. Although it's lightweight and portable enough for all-day carry around the neck, it doesn't fold up and doesn't have a protective case, so that can add to the expense. Due to the very low impedance, the bass may vary quite a bit with different amps. Some users have been bothered by the clamping force, but I find it quite comfortable.
