The KC06A are a great all rounder in-ear headphone. They balance the music well, with bass, mids and treble all sounding good. Even on bass heavy tracks the highs like cymbals aren't lost. Voices are clear.
In my reviews I usually go through and list how headphones do on various types of music. With these headphones I don't need to do that - they're versatile, tackling jazz, electronic, and pop equally well.
Compared with full sized headphones costing ten times more, you can hear a difference, but less than you might expect. The bigger headphones do better with the high frequencies, and overall clarity is improved, but the difference would probably only be important to people who really appreciate great sound quality. In-ear headphones are mostly for portable use in my opinion, and while good sound is important it's not the most important factor.
The in-ear headphones are about as comfortable as any of them. They're reasonably lightweight, so they don't put more stress on the ears than they need to. There's a fair bit of cord noise, but the included clip and over-ear guides deal with that nicely. They of course come with a range of different sized tips, but the first ones I found worked well for me so they're the only ones I tried. I noticed that have small metal pieces in them, perhaps for strength or durability. The package also includes a small soft case.
All in all these are very good in-ear headphones, and priced around US$67 they're quite good value. With the shirt clip and the over ear guides they may get regular use by HeadphoneReviews staff, which is quite an achievement when you have the number of headphones we have!
Test setup: 256kbps mp3 files, Cyberdrive Clarity DAC feeding into a custom made PPA DAC, comparison headphones Audeze LCD2 headphones.
