I was sent a pair of these headphones for review. Overall I find them great headphones for most music types, though I use them at a desk rather than moving around. They should be fine for portable use, they grip the head reasonably well but they are quite comfortable for extended listening sessions too.
The noise reduction feature works very well to remove noise like the deep bass of engines and air conditioning noise. As with all noise reduction headphones speech or high pitched noises aren't really reduced all that much, but it helps a little, just because the headphones are closed. Battery life seems very good, contrary to what I have read in other reviews.
The bass is the standout point for these headphones, its deep and has plenty of impact. The mids and highs are good too, though slightly recessed, but this can be tweaked with an equaliser. I listen to a wide range of music with these headphones.
The packaging is great, very slick and professional. The headphones themselves look great, professional, shiny, with a bit of bling factor. It comes with an iPod cable, which has a remote to pause the music and skip to the next track, and also has a microphone fitter.
I used these headphones a few times a week for about 18 months before the headband started to crack. This is probably because i'd take one cup off my ear, twisting the headband. Monster generously offered to replace my sample review units well out of warranty, so I give their customer service a thumbs up. Parts are also available in the US if you want to fix just a broken part. Overall durability seems average, they should last most people a few years at least.
Overall I think these are good headphones, quite suitable for their target market. I'm not sure about value for money, but for the sound quality, noise reduction, and style i'm sure they will be appreciated by many. I would definitely take these over Bose headphones.

I heard the Dre Monster Beats in a BestBuy store and had to buy a pair. Powerful bass, crisp highs, exciting impact, comfortable pads, sturdy carrying case and attractive design.
I was pleased with them for the first several weeks, until I dropped them (on a plush carpeted floor) and the first crack appeared. A few weeks later I was carrying them and bumped into a door. The second crack appeared. These cans are brittle. They still worked, but a few months later I tried a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros and they made a mockery of the Dre Beats. This may not be a typical comparative response (as I've noted online in various places) but I pride myself on discerning ears, and needless to say I regretted buying the Dre Beats (for $100 more than the Beyerdynamics); I continue to be amazed how popular the Dre Beats are. Granted, I loved them at first, but as any audiophile will tell you, the quest for the ultimate cans reveals the enormous range of quality in the pantheon of headphones.
Yes, the Dre Beats are attractive and stylish and modern looking. They are very comfortable and include a durable carrying case; the two cords (including a smart phone compatible one) are strong points. However, the highs are a bit piercing, the mids leave quite a lot to be desired, and of course the aforementioned fragility and the price (at least $100 too high) make these a purchase I continue to regret. They are collecting dust in my cabinet. Onward an upward. Presently I covet the Denon AH D5000's, and while I haven't heard them yet, the reviews are stellar if you can afford them (around $600)

I owned these headphones for about 8 months. They provided very nice quality of base along with the Mids and the Highs.
The padding is very comfortable and provided a great plush feeling while being secure.
I typically used these with my iPhone and found that I was getting static from the the cellular reception.
One day after taking them off as normal the head piece broke. After going through some reviews I found many others having the same problem. Luckily monster warranty was good for a year. I received a brand new set a few weeks later. I wound not recommend these to anybody as they do have a high price tag and they have a significant flaw in their build quality.

Let me first explain that I am a semi-casual listener. And by that I mean that I love live music however prefer the "clarity" that the studio will bring to a band. Also I am more of a rock & hip-hop/rock listener, so the depth of bass and overall balance of things is very important to me.
That said, the main draw of these headphones are their bass. And as of now, with what I have sampled, they are second to none. The bass is well rounded, deep, and has a great impact, especially in the rock and hip-hop genres. The mids and highs are good, however they do lack a bit when compared to similar priced headphones. However for the casual listener these headphones are just great, and compared to the industry standard ipod headphones these headphones are not even comparable, they are in a different class.
In the end, these are amazing headphones which are well worth the hefty price tag. They are portable, sturdy and draw quite a bit of attention when sitting around your ears. And IMHO I think you should stop reading this review & go grab a pair!
