these cans have got to be the most uncomfortable cans ive owned, they clamp your head in a vice like grip, adjustment is done via the connection from the headband to the driver which i think contributes to this....onto the sound! well they are nicely balanced, being natural sounding...so you can use them even with a preamp without tone controls, trouble is the soundstage seems squashed between the drivers, if you can imagine a vertical line in between each ear thats the kind of stage you get,the sound doest seem to extend to encompass each driver...let alone give you a wide airy soundstage....all in all id avoid these phones
These headphones were designed to give their users an illusion of high resolution. These aren't very detailed actually, they suffer from analyticism. Their mids are recessed and some detail is definitely lost there.
Their bass is fast, well-seperated from the mid-range, but it lacks impact. Well, it does have enough impact for a few genres (classical, jazz, soft rock, celtic folk), but not for trance. Their highs are pretty good. I can't really compare them to the highs delivered by the Philips SHP8900, but if I remember correctly, they should be almost as good, but not quite as good.
On the downside, these are terribly uncomfortable and caused my ears to ache more times than I can count.
Overall, these are decent cans for the price, but there are better choices out there.
